Image: The Budding of Dreams Su Yun, whose real name is Su Zhaoxiong, was born in Taipei in 1945. He is a reclusive writer and artist.



　　From a young age, he loved painting, nature, and reading books at his leisure, acting spontaneously. He believed that a simple life was best and that living close to nature was ideal—even sitting in silent contemplation was better than striving for worldly success.
 
    Over two decades ago, he withdrew from the bustling city to live in the countryside and mountains, believing that living a simple, quiet life doing what he found meaningful was the greatest blessing in life.
 
　　He continues to create and paint, though he modestly refers to his work as trivial matters of daily life. Yet each piece, whether written or painted, is the result of meticulous refinement and holds profound meaning—they are the great matters of life. Occasionally, he includes illustrations in his own books, which are merely a hobby but brim with Zen-like depth.
 
　　Su Yun has authored over twenty works of life literature and children’s literature, including “Empty Mountain Cloud Shadows,” “Iron Brush and Clumsy Heart,” “Happy Mountain Forest,” “The Budding of Dreams,” and other works of life literature and children's literature, totaling over twenty titles. These are classic works of Eastern literary essays and modern Tao Yuanming-style writings: their content primarily explores experiences and insights into life, care, and reflection on nature, with a plain yet concise writing style, as clear and simple as the author himself. He has won the 1983 Golden Tripod Award and the 2002 Global Chinese Love for Life Literary Creation Award.
