Fights off cancer, spreading her love and helps the sick
The founder of Czech's Amelia Center, Pavla Ticha, was diagnosed with 2004 breast cancer; the doctor said she had less than 2 years to live. She shook off her despair and received surgery and chemo. After 1 and half year hell-like treatment, she bravely confronted recurrence and then moved onto long term hormone therapy treatment. At the same time, she established the first anti-cancer chartable foundation - Amelia Center. For 3 years, through counseling, a healthy diet, creating arts, yoga and meditation, Tai Chi channeling, and life sharing, she walked with 10,000 + cancer patients to shake off the shadow of death and embracing hope. In January, her foundation was selected as ESMO's special anti-cancer charitable foundation.

So, Pavla Ticha embraced her symptoms and help the weak, promote compassion and spread hope. She's the “Anti-cancer philanthropist”. She got away from the crowd and received the 11th Annual Global Award for Fervent Love of Life, out of 1868 candidates. Our foundation welcomes recommendations of brave men and women with diligence, bravery, love and achievements.       Chou Ta-guan Foundation's General Secretary Sun Hsin-yi said that the founder of Amelia Center, Ms. Pavla Ticha was born in Prague, Czech on March 1st 1968. After graduating from high school in 1986, she worked as a gardener and a cleaning lady. In 1989, after the "silk revolution" that overthrown the communist government in Czech, Pavla Ticha began working in an international company as a sales manager.

When Ms. Pavla Ticha was 36, doctors told her that she had breast cancer and they said that she wouldn't last more than two years. She bravely faced this problem and began receiving surgery and different chemotherapy sessions. After the treatment ended a year and half later, there was a recurrence of cancer. Right now she's receiving hormone therapy.

When Ms. Pavla Ticha took 6 months of chemotherapy, she began focusing on taking care of other patients and the hearts of their families. She contacted some specialists and some former cancer patients and established a caring facility called “Amelia Center”, which helps patients with cancerous growth and others with fatal illness. There are therapists specializing in cancer therapy and psychoanalysts who help patients and offer health food cooking lessons, creative art lessons, yoga lessons, Tai Chi lessons, scheduled visits by special guests. The patients' club offers different support for patients with different degrees of illness.

“Amelia Center” keeps close contact with specialists (including cancer doctors and psychoanalysts) and asks them for advice. In the 31st ESMO annual meeting, based on the services it provides and its achievements, “Amelia Center” was selected as one of the designated centers for healing.
The goal of “Amelia Center” is to provide an excellent space and take away the patient's stress and give them love and hope. During the healing process, the patients feel cared, and the fee is covered by national healthcare.
