Transforming Cancer into Love, Using Paintings to Fight Cancer
Musical Angel Andy Huang was born on April 21, 1988 in Taichung . He was a child that his parents were proud of; he was smart, and talented in language, painting, and music. He has excellent memories, and could paint what he saw or heard onto paper. When he was happily studying in Taichung City Yungchun Elementary School , he unfortunately was diagnosed with spinal cancer on August 2, 2005, and was admitted to the Taichung Veterans Hospital for treatment. Andy fought cancer for over seven months, but he still did not win the battle, he died peacefully on March 5, 2006. His parents were deeply saddened, this association accompanied the parents Huang Yi-Cheng and Yang Hui-Cheng for over a year, helping them to come out of grief, and organized the 52 paintings done by Andy. Among them, Andy loved speed, such as eagles, leopards, sharks, the Taiwan High Speed Rail, and airplanes. Andy also liked cars; with only his imagination he could draw the appearance of a car and its internal dashboard. Although Andy was just a young child, he was a perfectionist, if he was just a little unsatisfied, or the ratio was just a little off, he would erase and redraw. It was this attitude that built Andy's amazing life. Because Andy was only in this world for seven years, 10 months, and fifteen days, he was able to paint with dignity and his paintings lighted up this world. He also broke the Guinness world record for being one of the youngest cancer artists in the world; he lived a full life in his short eight years. Although he will be missed by everyone, through dreams, life can continue forever and ever; he lived a beautiful six years, and he said goodbye with a free spirit.
Andy's mom Dr. Yang Hui-Cheng expressed that when Andy was born he was a beautiful 40 50 gram, Taurus baby. He was very clean, and loved beautiful things, he loved cars, listening to stories, running, painting, traveling, English, Taiwanese, Japanese, Mandarin, piano, violin, drawing, and sports. He had an excellent memory, learning ability, and sense of direction; he was a good secretary for his parents. He was smart, considerate, mature, brave, confident, and loving boy that had a personality as bright as the sun. Andy especially liked to wear watches and try to race with time, he liked to go on the Tsu-Chiang Class Express train and try to race with speed, he liked to take airplanes and feel he was above the world in high speed, he liked sitting on the plane eating instant noodle and seeing windmills in Holland, to Belgium to eat chocolates, and to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower. He also really wanted to go to the U.S. to track down bald eagles, and to go to France to see the AirBus plane. The password for Andy's entire family was: Mice love rice, Andy loves mom, daddy loves Andy, and Andy loves his little brother. Because of love, life continues.
