Painting and writing with love of life
Su Yun, also named as Su Chao-Hsiung, male, born in 1945 in Taipei City, passed away in 2006, an eremitic writer and artist who won 1983 Golden Tripod Award and 2002 Fervent Global Love of Lives Medal for Chinese People.He liked painting and books from his childhood, and preferred to enjoy a simple life.
He retired 20 years ago and lived with his wife in the countryside at a monthly cost of NT$5,000 (incl. health expense of NT$1,200); they lived simply with modern appliances such as telephone, fax, air-conditioner, TV and refrigerator, etc. Su Yun is a guarder of the field who tries to recall the almost lost pastoral and rural feeling, according to Wang Bang-Hsiung, director of Philosophy Research Institute of National Central University; Su Yun is a practicer of honest poverty concept who creates and carries out life literature with pure thinking, as admired by professor Chishima Eiichi,director of Chinese Language Department, Reitaku University.
Su Yun created numerous master works in the everyday life, each of which witnessed his life experience, such as: “Cloud shadow over the mountain”, “Happy life in the hill, “A litter water in the sea”, “Silent stone and flower”, “Faces of the moon”, “Cleanness and dust”, “Groaning of the Gods”, “Returning home”, “Hometown and dream”, “Random jottings in my home”, “Don Quixote and old monk”, “My simple life”, “Tree fragrance”, “Dancing butterfly”, “Tasting the favor”, “I love uncle mountain, “I’m just a small bird” and “Burgeoning of dreams”: showing his experience and feeling of life, care and retrospect of the nature.
