                                                  ─Xin-Ru Lin
Wave Goodbye to Autism, Say Hello to Hope
Xin-Ru Lin graduated from Sacred Hearts High School, Department of Psychology, National Chung Cheng University and is a data processing personnel of Yunlin Business Office, Taiwan Power Company (Taipower). At the second grade of elementary school, tumors in her feet proliferated and relapsed for unknown reasons. She has fought against the illness in succession for 18 years. Although she has overcome Death, she has to depend on wheelchair for a whole life due to the loss of normal functions of her feet.
It was until 2011 when she participated in the training in wheelchair dance held by Yunlin Youth Rehabilitation Association that she gradually got rid of 22-year autism and waved goodbye to the 18 dark years of fight against the tumors in her feet as well as despair, dismay and suicide.
It is more valuable and praiseworthy that she has accidentally opened another window of life, namely wheelchair dance, and demonstrated incredibly excellent performance, such as winning awards of “National Creative Wheelchair Dance”, gaining the title of Double-wheelchair Latin Champion and participating in national public-interest tour for long time; she has also appeared on international stage and achieved second place, sixth place and other laurels in global competitions held by Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of Korea, People's Republic of China, Russian Federation and so on, winning honor to Taiwan.
Just as described above, she has fought against the tumors in her feet for 18 years in a spirit of never giving up, gotten rid of 22-year autism and welcomed new hope by dancing. In addition to national public-interest tour, she has also appeared on world stage and won honor to Taiwan. Thus, she deserves the title, “Angel of Wheelchair Dance”.
