Reflections on a Changed LifeLaure L. Wang (United States)
 [My Triumph Has Begun]

To me, triumph is only a beginning. The focus now is what to do, not what will happen. I foresee myself doing everything.

Life in Itself is Triumph
The queen of private equity in Asia, Laure L. Wang, once managed an asset size over NT$ 200 billion. She is a MBA from Harvard Business School. She had a successful career, serving as Vice President in Goldman Sachs’s Principal Investment Area in the merchant banking division. She later co-founded Asia Alternatives, one of the largest private equity funds in Asia. She also had a wonderful family. Her father, Paul Wang, is the godfather of venture capital in Taiwan and her mentor in career. Her husband Kabir Misra is her best friend in life and work. She has two loving sons, Marat and Madyn. She once had it all. However, happiness was completely shattered one day.
In 2010, Laure was 39 years old. She was having the best time of her life at work and at home. She fainted, out of sudden, in a meeting. A serious brain stem stroke took her down. She was diagnosed with locked-in syndrome. Her brain and heart worked perfect but everything below the neck was paralyzed. She became speechless. She refused to be stuck in the worst situation and would not surrender to the disease. Although she could only blink her eyes, her willpower was even stronger. She tried all of her efforts to reclaim her perfect life. She did rehabilitation exercise every day. She would sweat all over, failed and yelled because of pain, but she never gave up.  God also helped Laure because of her perseverance. After seven years of the miraculous odyssey to recovery, she can move her fingers somewhat, sit up and stand briefly.
Laure can only communicate by blinking, but she is living her life to the full. She continues to be involved in her company and take care of her family. What is amazing is that she does her best to support philanthropic activities. Laure received the President's Volunteer Service Award from Obama in 2016.
To inspire other patients fighting for their life, Laure spent more than two years blinking and writing her biography “Reflections on A Changed Life”. In this book, she shares her story of recovery and reflections on her dramatically different life. Life itself is a triumph. For any major earthquakes in life, everybody is just about to start their own victory.
Laure started again from scratch. She lives her life to the fullest and seeks to break free from her trapped body. She spends every second on reversing the misfortune in life. She continues to take care of her family and helps out those in need.
