The first shocking news
Born in Kaohsiung, Mei-Jyun is a lively, cheerful and optimistic child since childhood. At the same time, she is also a brilliant student in both courses skills.
Mei-Jyun, who loves dancing and music, started her music journey as a sophomore. From Yancheng elementary school music class, she successively completed her music studies in Xinxing middle school, Kaohsiung middle school and Sun-Yat-sen University. She regarded the piano as the love of her life.
Mei-Jyun had a wonderful life before told by the doctor that she was suffered from "spinal malignancy".
At the age of 14, she knew nothing about "tumor", and the terrible diseases she shouldn't encounter in life immediately isolated Mei-Jyun from her dream.
After the tumor was surgically removed, Mei-Jyun needed to receive daily radiotherapy for one month. She was carrying a 15 cm wound and needed to wear a back frame to fix her spine for a long time. Although the pain was unbearable, Mei-Jyun still didn't give up her studies, insisted on returning to school and worked hard to prepare for the joint enrollment of music classes in Kaohsiung middle school.
At the age of 14, a major illness changed her life overnight, but Mei-Jyun didn't give up music.
Through the suffering of the disease, with the unyielding and unrelenting original personality, she worked hard to live every day.
In high school, Mei-Jyun actively participated in mass media, dancing, acting, concert performance and other activities. She also served as the host and director of the students societies.
Second shocking alarm
However, the disease did not disappear after treatment. During the tracking process, the shadow and worry of cancer recurrence always accompanied Mei-Jyun.
The third year of senior high school was an important stage of the major exam, but Mei-Jyun's body began to pull the alarm with inexplicably high fever and bone pain.
After the emergency return visit, the doctor told Mei-Jyun, "the tumor is very likely to have relapsed". Mei-Jyun felt the true fear of cancer. She thought, "why did such an unfair thing happen to me again?" In the face of pressures from illness and college exams, Mei-Jyun's broke down in an instant.
Mei-Jyun was hospitalized for examination, a second operation and begin to receive chemotherapy immediately after the joint college entrance examination and the joint enrollment of art subjects.
Mei-Jyun has to stay in the hospital for at least a week for each chemotherapy. Even if the doctor suggests that Mei-Jyun suspend her studies, Mei-Jyun doesn't want to.
Mei-Jyun wants to continue to learn the music she loves. Only when playing the piano can she relieve the pain and discomfort caused by the disease Learning piano also brings great satisfaction and happiness to her.
For Mei-Jyun, every study is a precious opportunity for her, because illness makes her deeply understand: "how happy it is for people to embrace their dreams and pursue their love!"
Therefore, Mei-Jyun insists on not giving up studying music, because she knows that only being strong can take her through the test given by God. At the same time, she hopes that her optimistic and positive attitude can influence others in a positive manner.
As she grew older, Mei-Jyun began to work as a piano tutor. She not only loved music, but also hoped to teach music skills to more students.
After she entered the graduate school, Mei-Jyun's physical condition seemed to be stable, so she began to undertake many tutoring, teaching and accompaniment work. At the same time, Mei-Jyun held a piano recital in Kaohsiung Music Museum with her own efforts.
Holding her own concert has always been Mei-Jyun's dream. At the age of early twenties, with the meager income she earned before, she successfully completed a very difficult concert and get broad repercussions. For Mei-Jyun, it is the most unforgettable and fulfilling thing in her life!
The third ruthless sentence
While Mei-Jyun is expecting to shine in the music circle, she ignores the endurance of her body. In May 2019, the doctor sent a ruthless notice for the third time: "we must start treatment again..." The doctor's ruthless sentence has suspended all Mei-Jyun's courses, accompaniment work and even her upcoming performance with the school orchestra Mei-Jyun tried to hold back her tears. In order not to make her family worry and sad, Mei-Jyun still kept a casual appearance, but her heart had already collapsed and shocked.
Although she knew her physical condition and even knew the possibility of relapse, Mei-Jyun still fought tirelessly.
As she grew older, she had a different understanding of life. After the visit, she began to think: "How did she take care of herself in the years after the treatment?"
On the way home, the more she thought about it, the more sad she became. She couldn't help crying and asked herself, "What should I do? What should I do with my concert and my students?"
After calming down, Mei-Jyun decided to face her own health problems first, and made a decisive decision the next day. With an optimistic attitude, she began to deal with work, school classes, and concerts. She said goodbye to all her relatives and friends, and returned to the hospital for chemotherapy with a relaxed mood.
Fortunately, the treatment process was not that harsh. Although there are occasional discomforts, the treatment was still smooth.
In the blink of an eye, Mei-Jyun has been suffering from the disease for ten years. Although the chemotherapy process is painful, and after the treatment, there will be symptoms such as gum inflammation, vomiting, numbness in the limbs, and decreased white blood cells. Sometimes, she must endure strong loneliness and fear.
Along this process, Mei-Jyun has suffered from many illnesses, anxiety and sadness, but she is very grateful to her mother for her meticulous care and love, and to all the medical staff, as well as all the teachers and classmates, and her friends. The unyielding companionship and care give her the warmth, positive energy, and the courage to fight against the disease.
Because of this disease, Mei-Jyun saw that there were so many old and weak, women and children who were suffering in the hospital, which made her cherish every moment in her life better, and be more considerate and caring for others.
Although the disease of "spinal malignancy" is still full of unknowns in the future, for Mei-Jyun, cherishing every minute and realizing the meaning of life is her greatest hope!
Playing the song of hope forever
Mei-Jyun has always believed that: to move cancer demons with beautiful music melody, we should not only play the movement of life again, but should also play the movement of hope forever.
Mei-Jyun very much agrees with the Venezuelan musical revolutionary José Antonio Abreu, who used music to change the lives of poor children and founded "El Sistema" (Music System Education); once children learn a musical instrument, their life course begins to change, because the musical instrument will open up a spiritual world for them, enough to overcome the poverty of their lives, and once they learn the instrument, they will no longer be poor in soul.
Abreu is determined to make Venezuela a global music center in the 21st century. So far, he has allowed more than 300,000 poor Venezuelan children to learn music for free. Everyone has their own musical instruments. Except for the youngest violinist of the Berlin Philharmonic, Edison Ruiz and many other sensational musicians in Europe and America, it has established 120 youth symphony orchestras, 60 children's symphony orchestras, and 300 music training centers.
Mei-Jyun also agrees with the permanent "Playing the Movement of Hope - Matching Center for Donation of Second-hand Musical Instruments" established by Chou Ta-kuan cultural and educational foundation. So far, more than 6,000 musical instruments have been raised and donated to rural schools, and 76 Little Stars orchestra have been established one after another, enabling every child from remote areas to find confidence and hope by learning music.
In order to call on more people to donate second-hand musical instruments - find new owners for the old musical instruments, Mei-Jyun decided to endorse the donation of second-hand musical instruments in the "Playing the Hope Movement - Anti-cancer Music Angel Ye,Mei-Jyun winning the Fervent Global Love of Lives Award", sending love to remote villages, allowing all children in remote villages get their favorite musical instruments, and letting Taiwan's music of love resonate in every corner of the world.
