A small literature doctor in fighting cancer
      Wu Guan-Yi, male, born in 1985 in Kaohsiung City, died in 1999, graduated in June, 1998, from Tung Guang Elementary School with highest score, granted Kaohsiung Mayor Award. He ranked among top listings in the school works and various competitions at home and abroad, especially for his poems, books and paintings as a “small doctor”. He suffered from encephaloma at grade one in the elementary school, and the medical treatment didn’t prevent the worsening and transfer of this cancer. On September 23, 1999, he was awarded “2000 Fervent Global Love of Lives Medal” under Chou Ta-Kuan Foundation.
      He fought bravely against the cancer over 1 year, but unfortunately he passed away on the current day when his poetry and painting exhibition finished. His poetry and painting were already collected into a book-- “a big earthquake of life”, and a Wu Guan-Yi studio was set up in commemoration of him. On April 8, 2000, “First Wu Guan-Yi Artistic Creation Award” was initiated by Kaohsiung City Tung Guang Elementary School.
