Enlighten the life with arts
Wen Peng-Hong, male, born in 1963 in Hsinchu. He was restrained to the wheelchair from 14 years-old due to serious cerebral paralysis. However, he tried hard to learn by himself. Firstly, he rectified his pronunciation and then passed the examination of Hsin-Chu elementary schools in 1991.
He showed interest in tissue paper’s torn painting in his 30’s. At the beginning, he took it for granted that this will be done easily by just tearing and adhering the color paper. But, he found it very difficult and then had to make continuous efforts in the training from junior to senior level.
He set up a “Loving Bridge”, and won “Self-reliance” scholarship from the Interior Ministry.
He was elected as a standing director of Hsin-Chu Disabled Joint Employment Association and the Disabled Association of ROC. He was also awarded “Torch model” prize in several times. In 1998, he won “Permanent learning model” issued by the Ministry of Education due to his persistence in learning.
Wen Peng-Hong expressed his desire to live independently despite of the difficulties in making a living, especially for depressed economic situation in recent years. He loved and cherished life while pushing forward the work of “Loving Bridge”. He also applied to Minister of the Interior, Yu Cheng-Hsien, for setting up “self-reliance” scholarship, with its aim of helping the disabled develop their talents in painting.
At 10:00am, March 23, 2002, he was awarded “2002 Fervent Global Love of Lives Medal” at CKS Memorial Hall.
